I walked in a small caf\u00e9 by the side of the road, ordering an iced coffee and cursing motherfuck fuck when my old buddy called me and told me she is dead. The mindless wind that rushed through town one rainy night had stricken her down. The next morning when my friend came by, it was already too late. A while back I had taken her home and raised her in my own garden. Dalat had no shortage of wild flowers but I couldn\u2019t bear to let her thrive unheeded in some dark crevice. Having taken her home, I built her a little fence that protected her from the neighbor\u2019s squabbling chicken. By and by she grew up, nourished by the sun, sending forth golden blooms that warmed the chilly landscape. Every time I returned home, I would see her welcoming face from afar. Now she has left me, gone. No matter, I tell myself, among the highlands, you can rest in peace. Incense lit in your memory, time after time, are the dew and fog that shimmy gently above the earth.<\/p>\n
