Mission

Da Màu’s Mission Statement

1. To be fair-minded, independent, inclusive and democratic in all decision-making process.

2. To promote literary excellence in all forms by selecting and publishing original work and work in translation on Da Mau online magazine.

3. To promote diversity awareness and lessen prejudice and discrimination by advocating, translating and publishing works either online or in print form, of authors regardless of their cultural, political, religious, gender, sexual and racial backgrounds and/or affiliations.

4. To support independent publishing inside and outside of Vietnam, through advocacy, fundraising, and grant writing.

5. To seek viable venues for literary translation through grant writing, advocacy, or partnership with other literary, academic, cultural institutions and associations.

6. To enable all activities related to the free dissemination and/or restoration of cultural, literary & artistic works that may have been curtailed or suppressed due to war & other socio-historical events, which include, but not limiting to digitalizing and/or publishing such works, fundraising, grant writing, maintaining websites that showcase said works, or in partnership with other literary, academic, cultural institutions and associations.

7. To organize and chair literary conferences on matters related to free expression, restoration of important literary works, literary translation, or on any other topics of literary, cultural, and educational interest to the board of directors.

8. To engage in dialogue, and/or serve as consultants on literary and cultural matters to local government board(s), or any other literary, academic, cultural institutions and associations.

9. To provide training and mentorship on matters related to free speech, literary expression, literary translation, and publishing.

10. To engage and/or support any activities related to, or considered to be part of the activities listed above.
